KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has said that those balls should be used in domestic cricket which are used internationally.
“I believe for a fair chance you must use that ball through which preparation for international cricket is made,” Butt told reporters on the sidelines of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final here at National Stadium on Friday.
“The duke balls being used in our domestic cricket is not used in international cricket,” he said. He agreed that the conditions during the ongoing domestic season have helped bowlers. “The domestic cricket has been bowlers-friendly for the last few years and this time it has been more so,” he said.
“This time not only the pitches but the ball used was also bowlers friendly and that is why batsmen struggled throughout,” said Butt, who lead Quaid-e-Azam Trophy finalists WAPDA.“I believe that the seam of the ball is so much dominating and lasts so long that batsmen rarely get settled down,” Butt said.It is pertinent to mention here that majority of the matches of the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy finished inside two or three days.
