Former governor Punjab and newly elected PTI senator Chaudhry Sarwar is facing stiff opposition from the local party leaders in NA 123 Lahore I. Chaudhry Sarwar wants to contest the election from this North Lahore constituency and running public contact campaign for many months. In 2013 elections this constituency was NA 118.
Many local party leaders are opposing his candidacy from this constituency on two grounds. One is that he is an outsider and even not belongs to Lahore. The other ground is that he is already elected senator and will be forced to leave one seat if win the general elections.
The senior PTI leaders from Shahdrah formed an alliance to oppose Chaudhry Sarwar. The Former PTI ticket holders, councilors, UC chairman, and vice chairman and prominent local leaders organized meeting in Shahdrah and decided to organize protests and demonstrations if the party ticket in NA 123 would be given to Chaudhry Sarwar.
They are demanding the ticket for Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood Gujjar from NA 123 instead. This national assembly constituency has two provincial assembly constituencies. 14 Union Councils of this constituency falls within the limits of Shahdrah and adjoining areas. If the differences persist till the elections then PTI will be in big trouble in this constituency.
