General Election 2018: General (R) Musharaf to contest elections from three constituencies

The nomination papers of former military ruler and leader of All Pakistan Muslim League General(R) Pervez Musharaf were submitted on Monday for NA-1 (Chitral), NA-188 (Layyah) and NA-247 (Karachi).  General (R) Musharaf hasn’t announced the final date of his return to Pakistan from UAE to face charges and court cases.

The Supreme Court allows him to submit his nomination papers conditionally. The Peshawar High Court disqualified him for life to contest elections. The Supreme Court last week linked his nomination papers with the final decision of his appeal.

Earlier in the day, the apex court ordered the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to unblock the computerized national identity card (CNIC) and passport of former president Musharaf. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar issued orders to NADRA to unblock Musharaf CNIC, observing that his return could be hindered by the move.
