General Election 2018: Nomination papers of TLYR leader Ashraf Jalali rejected from NA-81 Gujranwala

Tehreek-e-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYR) leader Maulana Ashraf Asif Jalali bared  to contest July 25th general elections as his nomination papers has been rejected by the election tribunal. He has been disqualified in accordance with article 62 and 63 of the Constitution. Jalali failed to submit his tax returns according to the election rules and he also did not submit his travel details.  

Hearing an appeal against the approval of Jalali’s nomination papers for NA-81 Gujranwala constituency, the appellate tribunal of Lahore High Court termed the returning officer’s decision as null and void.

Signatures of the approver and the suggested were also missing from his nomination papers and despite Supreme Court orders, Jalali failed to submit his passport to scrutinise his foreign travels.

Maulana Jalali was contesting the election against former federal minister and senior PML-N leader Khuram Dastgeer. Khuram Dastgeer challenged his nomination papers in election tribunal.
