Saha sets Indian wicketkeeping record in Test cricket

CAPE TOWN: Wriddhiman Saha became the first Indian wicketkeeper to make ten dismissals in a Test match when he held five catches in South Africa´s second innings on the fourth day of the first Test at Newlands on Monday.

Saha also took five catches in the first innings.

He broke the record held by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who made nine dismissals, with eight catches and a stumping, against Australia in Melbourne in 2014-15.

The world record for the most dismissals in a Test match is shared by Jack Russell of England and AB de Villiers of South Africa, who made eleven dismissals each whereas Saha equalled Bob Taylor of England and Adam Smith of Australia with ten dismissals in a Test match.

For Pakistan, Rashid Latif and Kamran Akmal shared the wicketkeeping record for making the most dismissals (10) in a Test.
